Grand Theft Auto Iv 1080p Ps3

I would think the PS3 would automatically run the game at 1080p when my TV supports that resolution. I could see where the PS3 would select 720p over 1080i, but not 720p over 1080p. Does anyone have this same problem who has a TV capable of 1080p? Thanks for the help, cicatrez, but I would rather not have to go into the display options and uncheck all but the 1080p resolution so the game runs properly.

jmeyer2039 posted...It does not automatically run at 1080p if you tell your system that your TV supports 720p regardless of whether it supports 1080p as well. You will need to uncheck support for 720p. Then your TV's display should read 1080p as you run the game. But there was no noticeable difference for me. It's probably upscaling or something to no/minimal effect. Probably something to do with native resolutions. GTA4 seems to be visually lacking to me compared to other games of the same generation anyway.

The standard AV cable that comes with the PS3 ISN'T a HD Cable, so your PS3 will currently only be 576i if you're using them, upgrade to a HDMI cable for the thing and set it to 1080p, don't worry, the PS3 is smart with these things and auto-adjusts the Game Resolution to match source, for example, mine is set to 1080p so XMB/Blu-ray films, etc are 1080p, but most games will revert the output to 720p automatically.

Set the resolution.Select all resolutions supported by the TV in use. Video will automatically be output at the highest resolution possible for the content you are playing from among the selected resolutions.* * The video resolution is selected in order of priority as follows: 1080p > 1080i > 720p > 480p/576p > Standard (NTSC:480i/PAL:576i).If [Composite / S Video] is selected in step 4, the screen for selecting resolutions will not be displayed. If [HDMI] is selected, you can also select to automatically adjust the resolution (the HDMI device must be turned on). In this case, the screen for selecting resolutions will not be displayed. 2ff7e9595c
